After I Had 100 Rolls of Washi Tape, My Mental Journey Changed

Hello fellow washi tape enthusiasts! If you’re anything like me, you probably have a drawer (or several) filled with these delightful little rolls of joy. Our love for washi tapes knows no bounds, but with that love comes a struggle that only true washi addicts understand.

It starts innocently enough. You see a cute pattern or a beautiful design, and you think, “Just one more roll won’t hurt.” But soon, one roll turns into a collection, and before you know it, you have hundreds of washi tapes, each one more adorable and irresistible than the last. Despite our best efforts to convince ourselves to stop buying, we can’t help but give in to the temptation. They’re just so cute and beautiful!

Here’s the thing: even though we have all these washi tapes, we rarely use them. They sit there, neatly organized, waiting for the perfect moment that never seems to come. And yet, every time we see a new design, we can’t resist adding it to our collection. It’s a cycle of buying and not using, but you know what?

That’s okay!

(This is the result of my self-reconciliation after struggling for a while)

Having a collection of washi tapes makes us happy. It’s a simple pleasure that brings joy to our lives. So, forgive yourself for indulging in this harmless hobby. Spending a little money on something that makes you happy is never a bad thing!

Instead of struggling yourself, it is better to seek better utilization for these lovely babies. Here are some creative ways I can think of to make the most of your washi tape collection:

  • Bullet Journaling: Use washi tapes to create beautiful spreads, borders, and highlights in your bullet journal. This is the most common method.
  • Gift Wrapping: Add a personal touch to your presents by decorating them with washi tapes. As there always lots of holidays in our life, such as the anniversaries, back to school season, gifts for our besties when they are having their major life events, Christmas, new year, etc. We love to celebrate, and we love to have some gifts during celebrations! Decorating the gifts you send with your own unique style washi tapes will definitely make you feel excited.
  • Home Décor: Use washi tapes to decorate picture frames, vases, or even create wall art.
  • Scrapbooking: Make your memories even more special by adding washi tape accents to your scrapbook pages. DIY always calms ourselves, we believe you will enjoy those moments.
  • More DIY Projects: Get crafty and use washi tapes for various DIY projects like bookmarks, phone cases, or custom notebooks.
  • Second-Hand Trading: Consider buying or trading washi tapes second-hand. This way, you can refresh your collection without breaking the bank. Pay attention to the second-hand information in your neighborhood or the surrounding area. Maybe you will find a friend who shares the same hobbies as you!
  • Bullet Journal Squad: Gather a group of friends who share your love for washi tapes. You can share your collection and use them together in fun journaling sessions.
  •

Owning a large collection of washi tapes isn’t a terrifying thing. It’s a testament to our passion and creativity. So, next time you feel the urge to buy another roll, remember that it’s okay to indulge in what makes you happy. Use them, share them, and most importantly, enjoy the happiness they bring into your life.

    Happy washi tape collecting! 🌸
